If you're just tuning in here's what at stake. A few weeks ago a local government in Indonesia, Bitung City located in the island-rich Sulawesi region reached out to me and asked me to help them create Indonesia's First Digital Nomad Program.

The area where Bitung is located is known as “The Land of a Thousand Islands" and offers access to stunning beaches, natural parks, forestry with unique wildlife, water sports, and eye-popping reefs for diving enthusiasts.

After some deep thought, I accepted the challenge and have taken it on full-time as a consultant. If you're interested in the initial meetings that led to where we are today you can read about that here.

My goal with this is to set a blueprint for other cities and regions around the world that want to attract digital nomads in an ethical and sustainable way. So that's why I'm sharing the entire process transparently moving forward.

So with that being said, let's get straight into it..

For Bitung City, we've split the process into the following 5 Phases.

Phase 1: Official Program Creation

In this first phase, the main goal will be to create a program that standardizes improved standard housing and living conditions as well as coworking opportunities. I will help create a program that fits the standardizing expectations of western digital nomads living in places like Bali and Chiang Mai. This will include curating what standards guest houses must have along with local restaurants, markets, and coworking spaces.

Deliverable: Bitung Digital Nomad Guide where all top resources for nomads will be listed (housing, shopping, food, leisure).?

Phase 2: Train Program Director and Community Manager(s)

We will create a training manual for Program Directors and Community Managers who will be in charge of the quality of experience of every digital nomad visiting Bitung. This will serve as a foundation for the hospitality and pleasant interaction both nomads and locals will have moving forward. The community managers we will hire together after the training based on agreed-upon qualifications.?

Deliverable: Bitung Digital Nomad Training Manual for Program Directors and Community Managers.

Phase 3: Website + Marketing

We will create a world-class website that positions Bitung as a desirable new location for digital nomads to live medium to long term. The website will share an opportunity for viewers to learn about the upcoming ambassador program along with the long-term vision and opportunity in Bintung. They will be able to start submitting applications to be in Beta cohort.

The final result will be engaging social media influencers reaching a combined 1 million+ followers to share the website to generate initial traffic and interest for the program.?

Deliverables

• World Class Website + 1 Million Influencer Campaign
• Conversions of 1000 website visits during the campaign. 100+ applications.

Phase 4: Public Relations Marketing Campaign?

We will curate a global campaign that positions Bitung City as a new and exciting hub for digital nomads visiting Asia. We will get exposure to over 1 million impressions across news media in the USA, UK, Australia, and Indonesia. All PR campaigns will be directed toward the application page on the Website.?

Deliverables: 1 Million Impressions in International Media.?

Conversions: 1,500+ applications over a 2-week period.

Phase 5: Digital Nomad Ambassador Beta Program?

We will create an official Ambassador program for Bitung City. This will allow us to learn everything we need to learn to create a perfect situation for digital nomads by exposing them to various cultural, social and leisure activities in Bitung.?

From the applications received, I will select, and manage 100 digital nomad ambassadors, content creators, and YouTubers who (REDACTED) experiences with the digital nomad community at large across Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook.?

My time will be spent interviewing every single one of them to make sure they are a right fit for the program. The result will be millions of people experiencing Bitung City from the vantage point of real people.?

All guests will (REDACTED) main program.?

The final result will be 10 million+ social media impressions and thousands of applications from digital nomads around the world to come and live and work remotely from Bitung.

Now I know what you're thinking, how are we going to reach millions of people? Well I've done it already and used to run a PR agency. My brand has been seen by millions over the last 4 years as a digital nomad including my viral CNBC feature and Insider article.

I'm utilizing all my firepower to make sure Bitung gets the attention it deserves.
