Indonesian Ministry supporting efforts to increase cocoa processing output

According to Putu Juli Ardika, director general of agro-industry at the Industry Ministry, Indonesia is the third-largest chocolate processing country in the world. The nation has a vast cocoa processing potential, with 11 intermediate cocoa processing industries, 900 chocolate processing industries, and 31 artisan chocolate producers. Indonesia's cocoa products have made their way to 96 destination countries, including the United States, India, China, Estonia, and Malaysia. ??

As of 2021, the export value of intermediate cocoa products such as cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, cocoa cake, and cocoa powder exceeded US$1.08 billion, contributing significantly to foreign exchange and boosting national economic growth. ????

To maintain national cocoa production and improve raw material quality and productivity, the Industry Ministry has been actively encouraging partnerships between the cocoa processing industry and farmers. They are also promoting product diversification and developing fine flavour cocoa with geographical indications through the development of artisan chocolate. When we started Sorga, we knew about the exports of Indonesian Cocoa, but it led us to believe the Indonesian economy would benefit better from the biproduct of Cocoa like artisanal chocolates.

Artisan chocolate, like our heavenly Sorga creations, currently makes up only 2 percent of domestic chocolate consumption, which is dominated by industrial and confectionary chocolate. However, Ardika envisions artisan chocolate capturing up to 10 percent of the market share in Indonesia. ??
