Indonesia maintains its position as the biggest automotive market in ASEAN

From January 2022 to April 2022, Indonesia achieves 346,849 units sold for passenger and commercial vehicles combines in domestic market, or 38.6% if we compare with YTD April 2021 with 250,177 units sold, the highest percentages in ASEAN market for YTD April 2022

With total vehicles sales in ASEAN around 1,123,760 on YTD April 2022, means Indonesia acquired 30,8% market shares in ASEAN.

Thailand, becoming runner-up with 310,068 units sold in YTD April 2022, while Malaysia achieves 215,965 units sold. Vietnam come next with 132,865 units sold, has the second-best growth after Indonesia if we compare with YTD April 2021, with 31,5 % as there is 101,017 units sold in Vietnam back to YTD April 2021.

The next is Philippines with 99,903 units sold, Singapore with 14,078 units sold and Myanmar with 4,032 units sold

With logic that OEM will prever to invest in country where the demands is great, means it always important to keep Indonesia as the biggest automotive market in ASEAN and with more improvement on infrastructure, incentive, business ecosystem and more, Indonesia has high potential to take crown as the biggest automotive production center in ASEAN in the future.

In 2022, speed up recovery in automotive, Indonesia plan to have more Auto Show than before. If everything going as planned, there is at least 9 big events in some cities in Indonesia :

Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Tangerang, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Makassar also Jakarta Auto Week. With Government target Indonesia as the hub of ASEAN, it is important to speed up recovery in Indonesia and give more reason for OEM to invest in Indonesia.

So let’s make it happens, Automotive Industry in Indonesia!
