On 18th October, India defeated Bangladesh amidst the ongoing cricket World Cup by seven wickets. The victory witnessed a heroic Virat Kohli, who smashed the neighbours in all directions. He also achieved a great feat as he became the fastest player to have completed twenty six thousand international runs. Virat also scored a remarkable ton as he accomplishes foty seventh international century of his bright career. However, Virat has sent a stern and bold message to the audience, which if understood can help one in achieving goals and unscalable heights.
It all started after the pandemic outbreak took place, the entire world was choked. Even the best of the sportsmen had to be then constrained to their houses. However as the imoact of the poandemic reduced and things started to normalise, cricket was back again in action. Virat then had been playing matches be it, bilaterals or out of home series. However, we had so much expectations that even though Virat scored good scores in double digit in several games, we trolled him for his inconsitent and out-of-so-called form performance. It also reveals that how is the audience who watch the game, wear the spectacle of judgements induced from expectations. Virat was unable to score a century, major upset came as India was defeated by arch-rival Pakistan in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. He was the captain of the T20 team then, further the fans were saddened as the team was ousted from the league stage. But the entire cricketing diaspora, barring a few exceptions trolled 'Virat' and then traded the entire blame on to him. There were veterans who even said that it was finished for Virat and he should not be tried any further and should instead be dropped from the Indian team. Suggestions for Virat were out on wholesale be it on internet or the sports channels which rather focussing on key performance factors, blamed the entire responsibility of team's collective defeat to an individual. This could be really heart wrenching for a player who has atmost played to the best of his capabilities whenever the team needed him. Can we forget how Virat played a quintessential role in driving India to a victory against Aussies. Virat quitened all his critics in 2022, as he played an incredible innings against Afghanistan in the then Asia Cup. Moreover, when India was struggling against Pakistan in the group stage match of T20 World Cup 2023, it was Virat who showed that no pace can rule over him. He defied all calculations, all predictions and drove the Indian side to a brilliant and a magnificient victory. Those two sixes, which I consider to be superb, against Haris Rauf still give me goosebumps. He proved that miraculous is pragmatic. He showed that against all odds, there lies a Virat who can outplay all tough situations.
Virat should be instead be taken as an inspiration that it is never finished until you assume it to be. Virat never assumed, thereby he had achieved feats which no one would have ever thought of. Critics and trolls, they are out everywhere, troubling the pathway to success, but Virat never succumbed to them. All of us need to develop a Virat within us, which is much bigger than the world imposed expectations and relentless criticism. Virat, would never lack support from ardent fans like me. But he also becomes a source of continous inspiration to persevere despite of whatever anyone has to say. Virat you again proved that you set bar for yourself, and that's always higher than ever.
