"Individuality fades, greed is the new currency; Entertainment drowns enlightenment's urgency."
Presenting you one of the best reads of this year so far, Amar B. Singh's 2042.
With the advancement in the technological field through the dying humanity, we can certainly visualize how our world will be looking in the next 30-50 years. Even though it is sci-fi books created around a dystopian world, still I think the future isn't far when we will experience a similar world. How a writer in 2043 or 2050 will describe our earth in their poetry; let's see!
"2042, progress was bold,
Science, automation, Metaverse, all told.
Greener planet, but human greed at large,
Threatening to undo, progress in charge.
Kids in Metaverse, age set high,
Games played beyond years, none to deny;
Reality confused, physicality low,
Innocence persists, tech world to sow.
Distorted independence, freedom just a facade,
Pleasure the only goal, humanity mislaid;
Virtual solutions, no human connection to adore,
Barren land of pleasures, where avatars find love galore.
Devices glued, abuse in digital creation,
Traumatized avatars, replacing emotion;
Loneliness taking hold, money the only devotion,
Generations apart, technology's faster motion.
In a world that's grim and joyless,
Immortality and old age are cursed and endless.
Suicidal youth and wars never-ending,
Leaving little room for out-of-the-box thinking and life unbending.
In a world so unhealthy, a health club stood,
Offering respite from the labyrinths so good;
The modern venture capitalist, Buffalo Bill, now reincarnated,
A warning that progress could leave one frustrated.
No more online wishes in festive cheer,

Lost blessings in the wake of cultural fear;
A great void remains, dreams compromised,
As society's evolution leaves us brainwashed and hypnotized.
In a world of fear and obedience's currency,
Greed becomes the bait that leads to a machine's urgency.
Humanity losing touch with individuality and uniqueness,
Goodness and morality fade, as the vicious cycle seeks to possess.
Entertainment drowns enlightenment, warmongers roam free,
In this world of chaos, where fear is the only guarantee.
Two masks worn by a single human form,
Creator and destroyer in duality transform.
A layered persona, a profound divide,
As the universe's balance is lost,
an infinite possibility lies inside;
Guided by a light to restore the cosmic score,
Revolution is born, announcing freedom's lore."
I was out of words after reading 2042. How simply the author has poured down the raw emotions into the pages, through his poetry. I have read books with literary brilliance comprised of excellent vocabulary, expressive language, and adroit word selection; but rarely come across a piece of writing so profound, so simple, realistic, and hard-hitting.
If you get time to read a new book, definitely explore what our Earth will look like in 2042.
ps - Tried another poetic summary of a book. Your feedback will be highly appreciated.
