Individual Contributor to Leadership Roles

Individual Contributor to Leadership Roles

So many IT consulting professionals reach out to me, asking precisely the same question. How do I get into a leadership role from the technical role of an individual contributor?

They had been trying to figure this out for many years but couldn't find the solution.

They have been doing great work, providing value, and the money is good too.

But they see, they are hitting a ceiling in terms of career growth.

Consulting and technology work is great. They enjoy it, but at the same time, the ambitious part of it misses something big.

That ambitious part is missing the decision-making power, status, and fulfillment of having a career, not just a job.

They miss an opportunity to turn ideas into reality, think of big visions, lead people, inspire them, and make their lives.

They feel that there is a lot of potential in them, which will be wasted if they continue their career as is.

I get excited when I hear this ambitious voice inside them.

Because when our clients hear that ambitious voice and take the intelligent actions that we teach in our program...their lives change!

What are those intelligent actions?

1. Create a mindset transformation. First, start thinking and feeling like a leader. Expand your mindset to see the bigger picture.

2. Understand yourself as a leader. What are your leadership strengths, and weaknesses? Articulate and express that leader inside you so that people around you start perceiving you as a leader worthy of Director/VP position.

3. Understand the personality type of your manager and skip the level. Read their minds and give them the most important things that they are desperately looking for. Learn and implement psychological skills on how to influence people who have the power to give you leadership roles.

4. Develop executive presence, and show up as a commanding leader so that upper managers will have the trust to give you bigger roles and responsibilities.

5. Create an "Executive" resume and Linkedin profile.
