The Indignity of Poverty

The Indignity of Poverty

Almost two years ago, I felt a heavy burden in my spirit. For me, that usually means it's time to spend more time in prayer. As I did, the phrase "indignity of poverty" came to mind, and God planted an image in my head that struck me so hard it felt like a punch from a championship boxer.

The inability to buy necessities demoralizes and leads to hopelessness and powerlessness. It's tough if you know what it means to be independent and self-sufficient. It eats into your self-worth, identity, and ability to exist and engage within a community. You don't truly understand this indignity until you go to bed without food—not because you are fasting, but because you simply can't afford it. When your children are looking up to you and you have nothing to offer, the shame, stigma, and embarrassment can make it hard to ask for help, especially if you've already done so several times. This affects your mental and emotional well-being and teaches your children harsh lessons about life.

This indignity is even worse when you have known and experienced the self-sufficiency that comes from earning your own money. But the truth is that if your salary is your only source of income, you're just a step away from poverty. That experience can hit you much harder. What I felt then was nothing short of spiritual.

I was gutted.

I was weeping.

I saw poverty.

I felt poverty.

I can't explain it any other way, and I am convinced that poverty is evil.

Global and national systemic issues of inequality aside, you have to fight poverty within your own personal economy.

It can creep up on you easily. Don't be foolish. Don't be lazy. Fear poverty, friends.

Run from it.

Keep it away from your children.

Keep it away from your children's children.

That's Why You're Poor

I didn’t know it then, but that was the beginning of what I was to put in this eBook that has been bubbling in me since the start of the year. There is a certain internal operating system that keeps you poor

In this book:

  1. I introduce the concept of your Internal Operating System (IOS)-how you are wired. This encompasses your beliefs, habits, and processes that guide how you perceive and interact with money as well as how to bring change and transformation to your internal money wiring.
  2. I discuss the financial systems, structures, and forums you should establish in your life to escape the jaws of poverty. I explain and provide a practical list of these systems, structures, and forums.

"That's Why You're Poor" is not just a book to read but a manual to live by. It's a living e-book with resources that will be continuously updated at a one-time price.

Grab yours here and let's talk in the comments.
