In the last decade if there is one country that has significantly improved its perception internationally and increased self-esteem among its citizens with a sense of pride and confidence it is India.?
In just a week we have 3 incidents that show how leadership has transformed how we feel about their country.
First, the Somalian pirates were chased by the Indian Navy. It’s India flexing its muscles on those who try to harm India. Similar action by our forces in POK or in Myanmar or even the standoff against China on our northern borders. Acts like these used to be sporadically addressed by the Indian Govt a decade earlier. The new India stands for its territorial rights and does not allow any damage to its land.?Similarly, rioters in India who have damaged public property have had to pay dearly in various ways including demolitions.
Second Indians stuck abroad have been evacuated from Syria, Ukraine, Israel, etc. Whether it’s one person or a thousand the Indian Govt has for the first time acted quickly to pull out its citizens from conflict zones. These actions go beyond, even trying to influence UAE to go easy on captured ex Indian Naval personnel or the PMO ensuring IAF pilot Abhinanadan is released within 48 hours by our strong stance.
The third and most recent stand-off against Maldives ministers making rouge comments against our PM takes the cake as now it is the Indian populace, traders associations, and commercial establishments standing in support of our PM. All are ready to lash back and threaten to stop visiting Maldives. A similar stance was taken by traders against Chinese cheap imports a few years ago when the Indian Govt. got cracking on low-quality product imports from China.

There is pride in Bharat the vernacular and Hindi speaking part of India. The divide that existed a decade earlier between Urban and Rural is fading as technology has connected the two. Another major factor contributing to this has been start-up India and the opening up of a new sector to create employment as well as promote educated talent. The opening up of IITs, IIMs, and other educational infrastructure in almost every state has helped education reach many more in Bharat.
From a country that was subjugated and subservient to Western powers and culture, today India stands tall restored of its rightful place in the world. Every Indian feels proud to be Indian here and have pride in our culture. We have realized our power and abilities shedding our cloak of doubt put on us by History and weak leadership in the past.
Seem to be there, finally. Where the mind is without fear and the head held high;…..?Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake. (Tagore).
