India is the world's largest and most complex constitutional democracy. According to the Election Commission (EC), this year, there are 1.85 crore first-time voters in updated electoral rolls. EC has also highlighted the growing participation rate of women voters as a positive indication of the healthy growth of democracy. The constitution of India confers the right to vote upon every Indian citizen whose age is above 18 years, regardless of caste, creed, color, or gender.
