According to 2015 data from the National Crime Records Bureau, 8934 (6.7% of all suicides) students are committing suicide every year. That's one student every hour.

Every hour one student commits suicide in India, with about 28 such suicides reported every day, according to data compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Graduates, with a share of 16.3 percent, made up the highest unemployment rate in 2019. The second highest unemployment rate, with a share of 14.2 percent, was constituted by those with a qualification of post graduate degree or above.

India's unemployment rate grew from 7.2% in January 2020 to 23.5 % in May 2020, the highest level on record, with the urban jobless rate hitting a new all-time high as the country remains under lock down amid a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.
