Nothing beats a listening ear to show that you care for your team, and it is no secret that people open up when you genuinely care for them! Tips to showing care though active listening: 1) Dedication - Have 100% focus on your team, no multi-tasking, show that they are worth your time and energy for dedicated conversation 2) Empathy - Put yourself in their shoes, find hints on what they truly want and reflect it to them, let them feel that you are on their side 3) Honesty - Be genuine! That is the best way to get reciprocation.

What are the habits of your reporting team members, what is the reaction of leadership, and what are the responses? Observing body language, facial reactions, and verbal cues is crucial to getting the most information possible. By doing so, you're able to see how the interpersonal relationships between the team, what works and what doesn't work, to be able to pivot and move forward with a more educated action plan. Following up on the items raised is imperative. If an answer or resolution isn't available quickly, let them know you haven't forgotten about them, or have a follow-up conversation to refresh understanding/ reset expectations.
