India's Bilateral Trade with Neighbouring Countries

·?????? India and Bangladesh have deep historical ties rooted in India’s role in Bangladesh’s liberation. Today, they share a robust trade relationship, which amounted to $26,061 million in 2023.

·?????? The bilateral trade between India and Sri Lanka was valued at $5,254 million in 2023. India largely exports ships, boats & floating structures and sugar to Sri Lanka, while Sri Lanka exports edible fruits and nuts and aircraft, spacecraft, and parts.

·?????? India and Nepal share an open-border relationship, reflecting their deep historical and cultural ties. In 2023, India-Nepal bilateral trade amounted to $8,056 million, in which India’s exports to Nepal were more than that of imports.

·?????? India and the Maldives have maintained close ties over the years, but recently relations between them were deteriorated due to row over India’s Lakshadweep Islands. Now it looks India-Maldives relationships are expected to improve after the recent Maldives President visit to India. Trade data shows India’s exports to Maldives valued at $651,385 thousand, and imports from Maldives valued at $70,304 thousand in 2023.

·?????? Trade between them valued at $92,512 thousand in 2023. India’s majorly exports vehicles other than railway or tramway to Seychelles and imports iron and steel from Seychelles.

·?????? India and Bhutan are what one can call, all weather friends with significant economic and cultural exchanges. In 2023, the bilateral trade between India and Bhutan valued at $14,70,361 thousand.

·?????? India and Mauritius enjoy close relations, underpinned by strong cultural and economic ties. Bilateral trade of India and Mauritius in 2023 was $7,02,156 thousand with industries – mineral fuels & oils, and iron and steel.
