India’s Bet on MOOCs

SWAYAM, an upcoming MOOC platform by the Indian government, has ambitious goals. It is the one platform that would bind Indian higher education, both online and offline.
Now how will it match up with established MOOCs pioneered by MIT or Harvard like Coursera or EdX. (I have been using these platforms quite extensively for past few years.)
This has been a question that was lingering in the back of my mind for quite some time. So, to resolve this quandary, I enrolled myself in an online course spearheaded by IITs called NPTEL.
Now when I join this I was full of excitement about the flashy Brand IIT, the interface and with almost everything. When the course starts, there begins the real fun.
