India's Astronauts: Pioneering Space Exploration
Almost five years after India first announced its human spaceflight program – Gaganyaan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently revealed the names of four astronauts who have been selected for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s ambitious mission. These men are set to create history by traveling to space from India for the first time.
The four astronauts selected for this mission include:
1. Group Captain Ajit Krishnan
2. Group Captain Prashanth Nair
3. Group Captain Angad Pratap
4. Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla
These pilots have completed their one-year training course in Russia's Zvyozdny Gorodok city during the pandemic and are now based in a unit of ISRO, getting familiar with the intricacies of the Gaganyaan mission.
With a launch date set for 2025, the Gaganyaan project will prove that ISRO can launch humans into space and safely return them to Earth. India will soon become the 4th country to launch a crewed spacecraft into space!
Stay tuned as these brave astronauts prepare to venture beyond our planet, pushing the boundaries of human exploration and scientific discovery.
