India's Asian Market Dominance

High-level content and networking, shaping the present and future of the real estate market
Despite factors such as higher interest rates worldwide, geopolitical tensions across the globe, and China's economic slowdown impacting equity deal making across Asia, India consistently stands out as a promising investment destination offering stability and growth opportunities in an uncertain international landscape.
- Reports indicate a surge in foreign funds flow into Indian equities last month, solidifying its position as a top investment destination in Asia. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) injected $3.63 billion, their highest spending since December 2023.
Moreover, India has emerged as the second busiest market in the world for equity capital market deals, following the United States. Indian companies raised $2.3 billion in the first quarter of 2024 in IPOs, up more than 12 times compared to the same period last year, according to LSEG data.?
In the face of impending challenges, including the anticipation of a rate cut in FY25, India's strong fundamentals and proactive policy measures position it favourably for sustained growth. Industry experts foresee the growing pipeline of large block trades and listings continuing to attract more funds to the market.
- These positive prospects are further bolstered by efforts to strengthen ties between the US and India, lead by US Ambassador Eric Garcetti. This initiative aims to attract more investment from American pension funds and private equity firms.
The efforts are yielding results: Blackstone Inc. announced a plan to expand its Indian private equity assets by $25 billion in the next five years. The firm also aims to bolster its presence in India by hiring 20 additional investment professionals and doubling its office space in Mumbai's Nariman Point.

Sustainable Strategies with Michelle M. Farrell
"If you do not address climate change today, investors are worried that this is going to cause financial problems in the future for your company," said Michelle Farrell, Senior Operations Officer at IFC, highlighting the crucial importance of adopting green practices in the contemporary business landscape.
- In her conversation with Gustavo Favaron, CEO & Managing Partner of GRI Club, at India GRI 2023, Michelle emphasised that ESG reporting is no longer a mere trend but a mandatory requirement in many countries, as seen with India's imminent Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR).
Exploring the commercial markets, Michelle underscored the significant impact of multinational companies dedicated to sustainable initiatives. These companies, aiming to reduce emissions across their property network, increasingly favour spaces with green building certifications.
