As AI technology becomes more cost-effective, Indian GCCs have an opportunity to develop customized AI models, reducing dependence on external providers and strengthening their competitive edge. However, this rapid evolution must be accompanied by strong governance frameworks to ensure compliance, data security, and bias mitigation—particularly for industries handling sensitive data. Investing in robust AI governance mechanisms, including validation protocols, security safeguards, and adherence to global ethical standards, will be critical in positioning India as a trusted global AI leader.

However, to sustain this momentum, the state must address critical energy challenges, as AI models and data centers require vast power resources. Ensuring a reliable and sufficient electricity supply through reforms in energy transmission and distribution will be essential to fully realizing Maharashtra’s AI potential.
