Indian Students moving “deep into Human Mind via computing science”

Analysis: Appears that  Dr Kalam sir visit to schools across India had resulted in huge impact midst of young generation of India. Data shows ( 2004 to 2015 , thanks to HT for providing this wonderful data) that young generation had set clear path for themselves to reach their future by using two primary tools such as  Human Mind and Computing Machines. As a top agenda, Indian young students have been moving deep into “human mind” by focusing on studies that are related to Psychology. To fulfill their top agenda, it appears that they are focusing too much in studies that are related to “Computer Science”.

Computing Science have been giving real direction to Artificial Intelligence and also Cognitive Engine to handle more real issues by using computing infrastructure. May be companies like IBM by using their WATSON platform, it might be wonderful thing to on board these young students from India.

Psychology ( one in five students score more than 90% in Psychology) related study enables students to to perform decision that are driven towards decision, yet by using rational logic. World with 7 B plus people, it appears that Psychology is very important to manage daily life in this world.

Most interesting thing is that, Indian young students, do not have much interest in History, Political science and Sociology etc ( Fewer students score more than 90% in these subjects). May be, they want to use Psychology to manage issues that will emerge out of history, politics and sociology.

Indian students are keen in integrating with Global team by giving more interest in English language compare to any other language ( English saw a significant jump from 3.5& in 2010 to 19% in 2015. ). This is setting another trend that, students want to be more global in nature instead of local in nature.

Historically, human being had spend lot of energy to study Astronomy for many centuries.  During those days mathematics had played key role in education. After that trend shifted to “machine associated industrial era” . For the same, Mathematics, Physics and chemistry are used to solve issues and also innovate new things. But now, it appears that, tread is more towards to understand “human beings” and make things by using Human-machine relations. This means, there is a scope for new trend in “Space Colonies” .

I wish Indian students, now move to “Space Science and Space Colonies” to support 7 B plus human being from Earth. . May be , this will be real soon, if this trend continues among Indian students. And also it will be interesting to know trend from students of China and USA.

//13/06 Kalam sir continue ignite young generation and this is doing lot good for Young India.

Psychology and science without the foundation of proper Theology would be dangerous .

The statistics are for higher secondary level but these figures need to sustain to graduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels for any conclusive evidence that we are making a definite shift towards emerging fields...same applies to our industries (esp. IT and research organizations)

Good observation but the questions still remain: 1. Does high scores translates into significant leap/innovation in quality fundamental research? 2. Are we making progress in the field of creating an ecosystem to support fundamental research, I mean how many students will be willing to take up Theoretical Computer Science(TCS) or Pure Mathematics (like abstract algebra and number theory) as a career? PS: Theoretical Computer Science, Abstract Algebra and Number Theory are the subjects to watch out for creating the next generation computational architecture & cryptographic techniques. 3. Any statistics on the contribution to fundamental research and emerging technologies by us (research papers, patents, novel process, conjecture, etc)? How many such efforts were funded and backed by university, government and corporates? Trend doesn't reflect the future it is at best indicative only (like may or may not be case). How we create an ecosystem conducive to growth of ideas and innovation is what matters the most as the intellectual nuturing of next generation is in our hands.
