Indian Passport Rises to 82nd Rank, Allowing Visa-Free Travel to 58 Countries

In an exciting development for Indian travelers, the Henley Passport Index 2024 has upgraded the Indian passport to the 82nd position, granting visa-free access to 58 countries. This improvement makes popular tourist destinations like Indonesia, Maldives, and Thailand more accessible for Indian citizens, aligning India's rank with countries such as Senegal and Tajikistan.

Global Passport Rankings

Singapore Leads: Singapore tops the Henley Passport Index, offering its citizens visa-free entry to 195 countries. France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Japan share the second spot, each providing access to 192 destinations without a visa.

Strong European Presence: Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden hold the third rank, enabling visa-free travel to 191 countries. The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland are in fourth place, with visa-free access to 190 countries. Australia and Portugal secure the fifth position, allowing travel to 189 countries.

United States Slips: The United States has dropped to the eighth position, with its passport holders enjoying visa-free access to 186 countries.

Overall, the top 10 most powerful passports include 34 countries.

India's Improved Ranking

India's climb to the 82nd rank signifies greater travel freedom for its citizens. Indian passport holders can now visit 58 countries without a visa, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. In contrast, Pakistan is ranked 100th with access to 33 countries, while Afghanistan remains at the bottom with just 26 destinations.
