- The gross revenues of Indian film industry expectations might be around 12k Cr to 15k Cr in 2022
- Considering the less revenues in Hindi & other regional movies overall recent, the expectations may impact the business to some extent or more
- Why? What is the reason? The answer is for last 5 years or more south Indian dubbed movies been appearing in every Hindi tv movie channels, and people liked it. Except very few, Hindi film not performed well during the period, some may be blockbusters. The real impact came into effect was covid period. During covid period, people started watching movies in OTT. In OTT, you can watch best movies of around the world. So, whoever not yet watched best world movies, they started seeing it and started absorbing different innovative concepts. Korean web shows, other web shows including Indian - people attracted to these phenomena. Now, people are watching their best interests at their own time and at their own cost wherever & whenever it is available. They don't want to waste their money nor their valuable time where they are no more interested. Now, scenario completed changed - post covid
- So, what is way forward? Does it mean that people or not interested in any particular films? - Absolutely not. People interest is in multiple now, they are more eager to watch films now, provided if it matches their interest. To save their money & time, they will watch any movie of their best interest, movies like few Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, The Kashmir Files, Bahubali, KGF, Pushpa, RRR, Kartikeya2, Vikram etc many performed very well
- Is there any social media impact on this business? Every human being mind is very sharp & intelligent. Once it starts listening & understanding to different ideas & concepts, it reaches to a stage where it forms its own idea, like every Voter decides while casting their vote. The mind can never be read but it can be impacted - Yes, but mind forms its own verdict & executes its own judgement at right time, right or wrong. Otherwise, if the impact is real and it is100%, we would have seen a different world
- So, what to do to bring audience to theatres? There is different approach here. Producers are more interested to match people interests whereas Directors & technicians, Heros still want to test different genre, that's why we are able to still watch the best. If the innovation fails, what does it mean? Somewhere here, both audience & directors won't accept each other opinions, if the other film maker able to read these lines, he may come up with another hit and it goes on, vice versa
- So, what's the strategy? It's very simple such as the more it is simple it is the same complicated also. Instead of copying, dubbing or remaking other language films straight away, go and watch world movies and come with the best concepts, more innovative scripts, stories may be the same more or less but the concept that is important. And also, if we can revisit our 100 Year Indian Cinema, we may get a clue, the concept to reach audience mind, how it can be entertained more. Or, even if we can revisit our Puranas, Biopics of our Soldiers, sportsmen, people who devoted their life for welfare of us or for protection of our land & countrymen, one can always add commercial element here
- What does audience want? They don't want anything but the best. What is the best? There is nothing called the best, just come with more innovative more technical presentations. Yes, the audience want more and more -Yeh Dil Maange More!!!!!
- The Business in India - We can expect 50,000 Cr business revenue per year in Indian film industry in next 25 years once every movie is created as Indian movie rather than any language film - Yes, if can reach Indian audience and not for any particular language audience.
- The Business across world - We can expect 50,000 Cr + revenue ever year in Indian film industry in next 25 years, once any movie creator adopts the concept in his blood that the movie being created is for world audience - Yes, if can reach world audience and not only for Indian audience and this will lead to much more revenue in addition to this. Even this figure will become small if we start assessing world market. Who can say that we cannot imagine 100,000 Cr (approx. 300 films per month across India including all regional & Hindi with a gross collection of 30 Cr per film) turnover per year. We don't know. but nothing is impossible, and everything is possible. If we are not doing it, some other country will show it to the world that it is possible. Look at Korean film market, they are doing wonders, like wise new players will come out in lot. Looking at how OTT platforms are growing, the estimation of business cannot be ruled out even though if it is highly impossible but certainly, we can reach & target more than 50% of it initially
- The Target - We are happy even if we can reach 50% of it since lakhs of technicians can make their livelihood out of it and in total the industry together can much contribute to our GDP growth, which is very essential & need of the hour for our economic growth. 30% means out of all language films including regional & national language Hindi, minimum 5 films grossing 300 Cr every month from both the theatres, TVs & OTT and the balance rest of the films any way will take care to some extent. Can we make it? Yes, we are capable since every year there are 100s of films coming every year in all languages. And the important point is small & low budget films must come out in huge, it implies encouragement to each technician of film industry
- The Oscars - Precisely, we have not yet focused on Oscars, 75 years gone since independence. Some say it is not required others say why those films when no collections to those films here and so on. But no one given a thought that a film casting in 3000 theatres in India and the same film casting in 50000 theatres worldwide makes so much difference including its collections for sure. If content is there in the film and international viewers likes it AND THE OSCAR COMES TO YOU automatically. How long we should wait for it? Are we not capable? Why should we ignore it? We have to start keep focusing on films what international viewer want. For this you can certainly add domestic flavor, who says no.
- The Navarasas - If any film releases, first we see whether the content has comedy, dance, songs, family sentiment, fights, etc. We are spending so much for it. The entire budget is going for these, and more than 75% time is spent for this but how long? Can we imagine a movie without songs, dance, fights - no, because it has been infused in our blood. We have start testing movies without songs, regular fights, dance etc so that the ideal time can be focused on content. For this evolution, it takes time and may cost huge money. But if we see Korean or other foreign films, they are able to generate revenues even without these, so also, we can. But can we lose our mass viewer who are our repeated viewer. For this we have to infuse new content and new technology into their blood and once they satisfy with new tastes, it will become a revolution in the history of cinema. During covid & post covid, it has already been done and that's why less revenues for regular content films. Now, we have to feed him international content, international technology films with new innovative presentation. If anyone say it is not required, it is at risk.
- New Talent - Take it Cricket, old players retire, and new talent comes in otherwise we lose matches. As simple as such. Here, old artists need not to retire but encourage new talent, small budget films, new technicians. It should be like flow of water in the river but certainly not like a swimming pool. When new technicians are encouraged, they do surprises and one day our new talent can surprise the world with their innovative international technical approach
- The HOPE - The thing is it has already been started. Presenters & Viewers already started focusing on it. You see OTT web shows, entire new cast, not repeated. It will increase heavily, can you imagine 100 web shows per month with each 20+ new talent, which means nearly 2000 new talent coming out every month which equals to 25000 new talent every year. This is excluding technicians; you can add another 25000 hear. They can do wonders. Remember, when you are small, Oscars is high and when you are flying high, you can see many including Himalayas
- So many points & different dimension approaches are there for these targets but in brief it is still little view
