The Indian Economy - Have we arrived?Or Have We Lost Our Way?
There's a lot happening in the world of Indian business. The shape of things to come is indeed, very very skeptic. The mood is tense. Love is in the air, but we haven't noticed it yet. Promises have been made, and are still being offered to the Indian Entrepreneur. But they're far from being realized. A lot is already at stake, as Corporate India readies itself to face challenges that have been ever-evolving and changing by the hour. After being perfectly positioned (at least that's what was indicated), where is the Indian Economy heading? Corporate India awaits an answer to the golden question, "Have we arrived?" Let's admit, times are trying, and look to be in some time before the Global Economy (on whom we are still dependent on) gets back to business. And in these times of adversity, how do we take on these challenges? Innovation and Change are key. Repositioning Business Strategies, Aligning People Processes, Re-engineering our Processes, Managing Leadership Attitudes, Reviewing Talent Profiles, Mastering Change Management are some very low hanging fruits that will see even the most vulnerable business afloat, just that these interventions need to be administered promptly and swiftly and more importantly, with the focus and attention they deserve. Closing Shop and Underproduction are primitive techniques that are no longer valid. How do businesses manage to sustain at the same level of activity even in this adverse environment is what we need answers to.
Indian businesses need attention, they need a support structure, they need more Knowledge-based approaches to be sustainable in these times. And there are no straight answers. All this needs to be customized to suit each individual Business Unit since we have diverse cultural and regional roots. But the bottom line prevails, "Businesses need to get smarter" to sustain growth and deal with these challenging moments. Let's get back on track by staying involved, staying focussed and doing whatever it takes, to foster the spirit of growth and development, thereby ushering a new way of life for all those who depend on Corporate India, our people, our ancillaries, our support systems, and so many more.... We owe it to them. On a happy note, "It's still time, we haven't arrived yet, but we're on the right path." Happy Businessing to you.
