If the Indian Cricket Team was a corporate organisation…..

The just concluded T20 Cricket World Cup saw India ascending the crown. This got me thinking…. If the Indian team were a company, what would the players represent?

Here is an interesting comparison…..

Rohit Sharma: The ‘Leader’. He is a charismatic spearhead with a vision of taking his team to the top. He is a selfless leader who puts the company and team before himself. He leads by example, indifferent to his milestones, ensuring his efforts and actions inspire the team to their goals.?

Virat Kohli: The ‘Superstar”. He is a reliable, committed, loyal member of the organisation who can be relied upon to bail you out of trouble He always achieves his targets, rather, he exceeds them. He is the troubleshooter and the go-to resource. The managers depend on him to reach their goals. He is synchronised with the leader in thoughts and actions. The leader and the superstar share a dream to be the best.

Jasprit Bumrah: The ‘Ace of Spades’. Whenever the leader and the team are in trouble, his actions will change the course of the organisation. He is quiet, likes to remain in the shadows, but spits fire when he is in action. He is unbeatable, tenacious and fiercely determined. He carries a huge responsibility,? ensures he does the job, and quietly fades to the background.?

Rishabh Pant: The ‘Comeback Man’. He is the employee who has gone through lots of personal turmoil, cheats death, and rises like the Phoenix when he is told he will never walk again. His blistering comeback defies human determination and willpower. He is one of the future leaders of the organisation.

Surya Kumar Yadav: The ‘X-Factor’. This team member in the organisation archives exceptional results quickly using unorthodox measures that leave everyone flummoxed. He has a knack for doing unexpected things. Market competition and rivals are unable to comprehend his actions. They feel woefully unprepared to face him. No matter how much preparation the competition does, he will beat you. Then, in the most crucial moment facing the organisation, he will do a magic act to ensure the team reaches its goals.?

Arshdeep Singh: The great ‘prodigy’ to the Ace of Spades. Young, energetic and passionate, he has a calm demeanour.? He looks at the Ace of Spades as his Guru. He attributes his success to the influence and presence of the Guru. He is a capable apprentice who made his mark during crunch situations.

Hardik Pandya: He is the Holy Grail of redemption. His greed and ambition burned bridges with the Leader. He replaced the Ledaer for some time and paid a heavy price. His performance dipped, he lost the team’s respect and was loathed by everyone. The Leader kept him in the fold who believed in redemption. Hardik outshone his team members with his unshakable commitment and drive to take his team across the finish line. When the organisation reached its goals, he stood back and let his team members enjoy the limelight. He is now back in the good books of the organisation. His time will come. He understands the value of patience and timing.

Axar Patel: The ‘use-me-anywhere-when-in-trouble’. He is the Generalist in the organisation who can do all the tasks. He can fit in anywhere, he is always ready. He will come up with amazing acts at work that borders on incredulity. He will perform miracles that make the difference between victory and defeat. He is the most versatile team member.

Ravindra Jadeja: Mr Versatile, who did not perform to expectations. It can be argued that he did not get opportunities to showcase his talent. One cannot do miracles in crunch situations all the time. After the organisation reaches its goals, this employee decides to move to another job profile within the same organisation.?

Sanju Samson:? The employee who is always unlucky when it is his chance to shine or does not have the temperament to ‘dance’ on the big stage. Opinion is divided regarding his abilities. He is the employee who does exceeding well in small assignments, then gets assigned to the big ones, but disappoints in the big league.

Shivam Dubey: The employee who flatters to deceive. His personality and actions raise the hopes of the organisation. Again, like Sanju, flatters to deceive. Although the employee makes a decent contribution on big occasions( Finals), this employee may not find a place at the big boy's table.?

Rinku Singh: The unlucky prodigy. The entire organisation believes in his capabilities and sings praises about him. But he is never assigned crucial jobs. He sits in the corner and watches his colleagues go about their work. This is the unpolished gem in the office. If he is lucky, he will get his chance. Why he hasn't got it yet is beyond comprehension.?

Mohammed Siraj: He is a passionate employee who gives his heart out, but does not get the desired results. Yet, he is the happiest at the success of his teammates. He is the employee who will lay down his heart for the organisation. Yes, such people still exist.?
