Indian Copyeditors Forum

Indian Copyeditors Forum is a Facebook group for Indian editors and its aim is to share knowledge, ideas, thoughts, and resources among its members.

It encourages freelance and full-time editors (necessarily Indian although exceptions can be made in rare cases) to engage in active networking and hopes to create a culture of meaningful and sustained interaction. The Forum invites editors to share successes and pitfalls of freelancing, provide leads, give warnings (always discreetly), ask questions, and discuss oddly written sentences, other editorial bugbears, and any other professional concerns. 

The media (or type of editor) can range from book editing to academic editing. In addition to editors, abstractors, designers, indexers, manuscript evaluators, project managers, proofreaders, translators, and writers are welcome to join. 

After being accepted into this group, your introduction should state the following:

> Editorial experience 

> Location

> E-mail ID

The speciality-specific whatsApp groups are called Special

Interest Groups: indexing, business editors, humanities, fiction, STM, legal

editors, social sciences, translation, and technical editors. May be we can

have one for poetry editors, one for ELT editors, and one for recipe editors

too.

We have city- and state-specific groups in Delhi, Noida, NCR,

Faridabad, Gurgaon, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai/Pondy, Bangalore, Kolkata,

Hyderabad, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tricity (Chandigarh/Mohali/Panchkula),

Dehradun, Lucknow, Jharkhand/Bihar.

There is also an international group and a national group, and

finally a group dedicated to online training.
