INDIA QUALIFIES FOR SUPER EIGHT IN T20 WORLD CUP

With a seven-wicket victory over the United States on Wednesday, India advanced to the T20 World Cup Super Eight stage. Suryakumar Yadav's fifty and Arshdeep Singh's four-wicket haul were key factors in India's third consecutive victory.

If they defeat Ireland on Friday, the United States, who are currently second in Group A with four points despite having lost their last three games, will also guarantee their spot in the next round.

When the Americans were put to bat, they struggled. Arshdeep (4-9) removed Andries Gous and Shayan Jahangir in the opening over, and Aaron Jones gave in to pressure when he edged Hardik Pandya (2-14) to third man.

Steven Taylor (24) rallied the hosts, who were down 25-3, by striking two sixes and then playing on to a delivery from Axar Patel that clipped the bails. The Americans' leading scorer, Nitish Kumar, finished with 27, but Arshdeep claimed his first wicket when Mohammed Siraj made an incredible catch while diving backwards close to the boundary rope.

A strong finish from Corey Anderson (15), Harmeet Singh (10), and Shadley van Schalkwyk (11 not out) helped the United States to a close 110-8. India's pursuit was off to a rocky start when captain Rohit Sharma (3) and player Virat Kohli (2-18) both fell to the medium bowler who was born in India.

After Ali Khan bowled Rishabh Pant (18), who was having trouble hitting boundaries, Yadav (50 not out) and Shivam Dube (31 not out) alternated strikes to stabilize the innings. Yadav had luck on his side when Netravalkar dumped him on the 22nd. The hosts' three instances of pausing more than a minute between overs, which gave India five penalty runs after the fifteenth over, further aided the duo.

With just 10 balls remaining, the duo led India over the finish line after establishing an undefeated 72-run partnership. You would expect an experienced player to have a different style of play, and that's what Yadav demonstrated. Dube's partnership was essential, according to skipper Sharma. "All the bowlers did their job well, particularly Arshdeep." Player of the match Arshdeep remarked, "I had to deliver for the team because they always show belief in me and keep backing me." On Saturday, India will play their final group stage encounter against Canada.
