India - A New Market for Electric Vehicles

In APAC region, Indian government has issued a request to install EV charging stations at 25 different locations in the city of Raipur. The contract is for the period of 5 years and may extend to another term of 5 years as well. The installation is to be completed in nine months with the installation of 14 slow and 11 fast chargers.

Considering the commitment of India towards EV, on Sep 7, 2020 PTI report revealed that the government of India may order all filling stations across country to install one electric charging kiosk. This is a step towards mission of India on ending the sales of new internal combustion cars by 2030 and promoting Electric Vehicle framework.

India has the fourth largest automobile market in the world. For Electric Vehicle, the market of India by 2025 is expected to present an opportunity of INR 500 billion and by 2030, would reach to over $200 billion. Considering the recent development on Electric Vehicle Infrastructure in India, the country appears to be a potential ground for investment.
