India Mobile Congress 2024 edition is just a week away and there's lots of excitement around this year. This year, we expect there will be lots of participation from industries beyond Telecom, although event continues to be a Telco focus one. Moreover, as the first Gen AI wave is settling down, post launch of ChatGPT in Dec-22, we expect to see more real-world use cases showcased in the areas of AI, AIOps, Gen AI & Network Automation during the event.
Red Hat, the global leader in open-source Hybrid Cloud, and leading platform & AI, Automation partner of leading Telcos across India & Globe, is showcasing real world AIOps, MLOps & Network Automation use cases, apart from the showcasing entire portfolio of products including OpenShift Platform, OpenShift Virtualization, Red Hat Ansible Automation, RHEL AI, Red Hat OpenStack on OpenShift (RHOSO) and more, at the booth.
Let me talk a bit more why we are focusing to showcase real world AI & Automation use cases this year?
Like many other ecosystem players & partners, Red Hat has been leading the new Gen AI wave and transforming itself to be a leading Hybrid AI Platform & Automation partner for the Telcos. Over the past one year itself, Red Hat has launched slew of products enabling Telcos & enterprises across globe to not only adopt AIML Use cases but bring the value out of their AIML deployments across hybrid cloud.
During our conversations with Telco CXOs, they have highlighted number of challenges in adoption, deployment, scalability & security of AIML solutions within their own ecosystem. We have taken it endeavour to not only listen to what they are talking but also been working closely with some of them to address those challenges.
Some of the top challenges what we heard over past two years include:
When we looked at above challenges, we thought, what if we could showcase the AIML Use cases, addressing above, at IMC 2024?
One of the first use case we are showcasing is about Network Automation named, 'xNF Performance Prediction & Auto Remediation'. The use case addresses many challenges in one go. Today observing different set of Network KPIs, and events separately (on different dashboards) and guessing if an event could impact customer experience, is old school. Moreover, troubleshooting and RCAs of such customer experience impacting events, takes hours in many instances.
Even if Telcos understand the challenge, solving such complex challenge, with help of AIML takes week or even months (DIY AI), and require domain expertise, team of data scientists, MLOps engineers and even data management at scale needs to be in place. That's where Red Hat, in partnership with Avanseus, our Network AIOps partner, bring value in delivering such use cases out of box at scale. The idea behind demonstrating such use case is to showcase data engineering required at scale, diagnostic and predictive analytics, and enabling them to move from reactive to proactive approach in operationalizing the network saving $$$ on OPEX.
The next use case we are at booth is about 'Full Stack AIOps Observability with Single Pane of Glass Business Dashboard with Auto Remediation'. Observability & AIOps continues to be a big challenge for Telcos, and the use case looks at addressing some of challenges such as gaining complete visibility into business problems, its associated KPIs, and helps in addressing the root cause customer experience impacting issues faster with AI and Automation. Red Hat has partnered with Dynatrace, our IT AIOps partner & global AIOps leader, to solve complex business challenges with Dynatrace Davis AI, Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Event Driven Ansible Automation Platform.

One of the common questions often asked by Telco executives is understanding the big picture of AIOps w.r.t Telco Network and IT together. That's where both of the use cases come in and chosen appropriately to address, both network and IT side of Day2 operational challenges for Telcos.
With Telco Network Operational efficiency as key focus, Red Hat has been closely working with TM Forum & Ecosystem partners, as part of TM Forum Catalyst, and enabling the vision of 'DarkNOC: A NOC without Human intervention'. As part of collaboration, we are showcasing the end-to-end service assurance & fault remediation with AIOps, Gen AI & Event Driven Automation, all together. The idea is to gather different domain data (RAN/Core/Transport), associated with a service impacting event, identify the root cause faster and remediate the fault automatically. Red Hat has been working with leading Telcos across globe to enable the vision of DarkNOC, where we are brining Ansible Lightspeed (IBM WatsonX powered LLM trained on Ansible Galaxy) to automatically generate the remediation playbooks and execute such playbooks with Red Hat Ansible Event Driven Automation.
Moving on from AIOps, another important challenge, which Telcos face while building AIML solution is building AIML Models, deploy and operate them at scale. We call it as MLOps challenge. With Red Hat OpenShift AI, a hybrid MLOps platform, Telcos can not only bring their data to train models but can now take those to production and serve them with ease on OpenShift Platform. We are showcasing the set of use cases including Fraud Detection and NPS Prediction, by taking the public available dataset, train models and taking them to deployment on Red Hat OpenShift. It would be interesting for Telcos to note the power of open source MLOps platform (Upstream Open Data Hub), to address some of the most important technical debts of AIML lifecycle. If you are building your own MLOps platform or your data scientist and MLOps engineers are finding it challenging to deploy, scale AIML workloads, then we are happy to talk to you next week to understand your challenges better.
Beyond AIOPs, Network Automation and MLOps, Red Hat team is also showcasing the power of OpenShift Virtualization at the booth. OpenShift Virtualization, also short named as OCP-V, enables running VMs on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. This is interesting as now Telcos can run VMs and Containers side-by-side, on same proven, robust, secure platform. With virtualization as focus (Broadcom acquisition of VMWare), many of Telcos exploring robust, proven, scalable and secure platform to run their IT infrastructure. OCP-V is made for such IT driven use cases and with MTV (Migration toolkit for virtualization), Telcos can now migrate their VM workloads from any source virtualization platform to OCP-V, at scale.
The visit to the Red Hat boot would be incomplete, without talking about RHEL AI and RHOSO (Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift). RHEL AI, announced in Red Hat summit this year, is a foundation model platform built in partnership with IBM. RHEL AI, bring the Granite family of LLMs (IBM) and ability to fine-tune those models with InstructLab on your data. Technically, fine-tuning LLMs is very challenging task, esp. the amount compute, need of labelled data and time taken for tuning the LLMs. But with RHEL AI, now you can address those challenges with your own data (synthetic data) and align the LLM (Granite) specific to your intention. The topic is quite broad, and we don't want to cover all the details in this post, so we are happy to discuss the power of RHEL AI at the booth.
RHOSO, Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift, is newest offering from Red Hat, where now the older Red Hat OpenStack platform is re-architected, to run OpenStack control plane services, as containers, on Red Hat OpenShift Platform. The data plane continues to run as VM on OpenStack. With the re-architecting, now Telco has single horizontal platform layer running both OpenStack Services and their other container workloads, on OpenShift, allowing better operational management of their VM and container deployment. RHOSO is getting lots of attention (like RHEL AI) from Telcos and many Telcos are keen to adopt the newer architecture.
Along with RHEL AI & RHOSO, we will be showcasing our entire portfolio of products including Red Hat Device Edge, Hosted Control Plane, OpenShift Data Foundation and much more at our booth.
Red Hat is showcasing its products & solution at Hall 2, Stall 2-12, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi from Oct 15-18 at IMC 24.
Great opportunity..
