India Launches ?13,050 Crore Incentive Scheme To Boost Green Hydrogen; SECI Plans to Launch the Milestone Tender for 500 MW Solar and More...

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanctioned the implementation of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme—Component II, which focuses on the Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production. This initiative, under Mode 1, falls under Tranche II of the National Green Hydrogen Mission and is set to span from FY 2025-26 to FY 2029-30. The scheme has been allocated a substantial budget of ?13,050 crores, aimed at covering all modes under this component.


In a groundbreaking move, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) is set to initiate a tender for a concentrated solar thermal power storage project with a capacity of 500 megawatts (MW) by the end of the current financial year. R P Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of SECI, announced this strategic step amidst the government’s heightened emphasis on bolstering the nation’s energy storage capabilities to mitigate the intermittency challenges posed by renewable energy sources.


Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced plans to initiate the selection process for Green Hydrogen Producers under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme. The scheme, outlined by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), aims to establish production facilities in India for generating Green Hydrogen and its derivatives, targeting an annual production capacity of 4,50,000 metric tonnes.
