India and Australia Sign Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement

New Delhi and Canberra have expressed their commitment to enhancing their collaboration in the realm of mobility and migration in order to promote the well-regulated movement of students, researchers, professionals, academics, and various other individuals.
The migration and mobility partnership agreement was formalized during a joint press conference in Sydney, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, were present.
During the press briefing, Prime Minister Modi disclosed the specifics of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed. He stated, "Today, we have entered into the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement. This agreement will reinforce our dynamic connection and benefit our citizens."
During a joint press briefing, PM Albanese expressed his satisfaction with the agreement that was signed. He stated that both Prime Minister Modi and himself were delighted to witness the formal exchange of the Australia-India Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement.
This agreement aims to facilitate the movement of students, graduates, researchers, and business people between the two countries, strengthening interpersonal connections and enhancing collaboration in the prevention of people smuggling.
It is important to highlight that the newly established India-Australia Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPA) has been specifically designed for India, aiming to encourage the bilateral mobility of students, graduates, academic researchers, and business people in both directions.
As per the official announcement, the agreement aims to enhance the ease of movement for various individuals such as students, professionals, researchers, academics, and more. It also introduces a new program called MATES (Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early Professionals Scheme), designed specifically for India, to support skilled individuals in their mobility endeavors.

During a joint press briefing led by Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese, Australia disclosed its plan to establish a new Consulate-General in Bengaluru.
Prime Minister Albanese, while sharing the specifics, stated, "I am delighted to inform you about the upcoming establishment of a new Consulate-General in Bengaluru by Australia. This initiative will facilitate the connection between Australian businesses and India's thriving digital and innovation ecosystem."
Furthermore, Prime Minister Albanese emphasized that the Bengaluru Consulate-General will become the fifth diplomatic presence in India representing Australia.
