As a proud sponsor of Team Project Conference from the local university, Thaumatec helped to develop two student projects, one of those, was the winning project, our LoRaMiG – LoRa Main Independent Gateway and it was chosen as the Best Hardware Project.
Thaumatec built the solar-powered Lora Gateway because we believe, that this device can solve a lot of global problems and help many businesses. LoRa is a low power, wide-area networking protocol, designed to wirelessly connect battery operated devices to the Internet in regional, national or global networks. It doesn’t need much energy (as you can see, can be solar-powered), the network itself is perfectly designed for sending data from multiple sensors.

Examples for smart LoRa-connected applications:
Cesspool emptying system: Full level reported to the septic tank drain company and pump truck is sent automatically.
Outdoor feeding of animals: forest animal food crib, feeding trough or water dispenser monitoring and information to ranger office if it is getting empty.
City lights and energy saving control: Dimming, control or switching on/off the city lights according street type, built-up area type, time, light conditions, safety conditions, weather conditions.

Level monitoring of waste bins: waste emptying can be optimization and organized .
Reading out energy meters: Energy meters reported and visit of the measurement device is not needed.
Monitoring of water reservoirs and water intakes: Water level and quality are recorded using sensors and monitored.
