Independence for Small Businesses

Independence for Small Businesses

Small businesses are the backbone of economies worldwide. As they drive innovation, job creation, and economic growth, small businesses are essential to the United States economy and workforce. While small businesses have added over 12.9 million jobs in the last 25 years, 1 in 5 businesses fail within the first year. That being said, starting a small business from the ground up is one challenge, though maintaining and growing it is another.?

In the United States, July 4th represents a celebration of independence, freedom, and resilience. As this day approaches, it is fitting to explore the importance of small business networking and how it contributes to the resilience necessary for achieving and maintaining independence.?

Networking not only fosters collaboration and growth, but also empowers small business owners to navigate challenges and thrive in an ever-changing economy. Through connecting with other entrepreneurs, small business owners gain access to invaluable resources, knowledge, and expertise. Networking events act as a platform for entrepreneurs to share experiences, exchange ideas, and build a supportive network. These support networks are the pillars of resilience for small businesses. The resources gained through these events provide small businesses with the tools to undergo hardship, adapt to new circumstances, and ultimately achieve and sustain independence.

On June 9th, I had the opportunity to attend the Be Empowered by Networking event, hosted by the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce. I attended the event with the founder of Work Onward, Holly Diamond, and together, we met with various small business owners and learned about their small business needs and challenges. Throughout this sit-down networking event, we listened to small business owners' stories and offered our support. By connecting with, and supporting, these small businesses, we acted as a pillar of resilience for them. A pillar that put them one step closer to independence in the marketplace.?

As we celebrate July 4th and reflect on the principles of independence and resilience, let us recognize the significance of small business networking as a catalyst for success, enabling entrepreneurs to pave their own path, overcome obstacles, and contribute to the growth of the economy and their communities.??
