Independence and autonomy with Full Digital Workflow

Three years ago, the seven Associated/Dentists of our Dental Group,decided to build a Numeric Dental Lab on the same premises.

The aim and challenge, were to use Pure Digital Workflows, on every restorations big or small without, models or ceramic build ups.

Full contoured crowns, bridges, implants, hand stained, only using digital data and informations from intra oral cameras.

Today, we can smile, “mission accomplished “, we have pushed to the limits, where nobody wanted to go and succeeded.

Stepping out, of traditional ways, was always going to be complicated, especially in our Dental industry.

No point of arguing if Digital, is the way to go or not, it’s here.. and moving forward every day, new materials, new virtual tools, access to a new professional world.

If I had to sum up our three years of discoveries, four words, will come to mind.

- “Communication” between, Dentists/Technicians/ patients, improved dramatically, with an instant vision on the screen, a language, that everybody understand.

Dialogue, exchange and understanding , at the click of your mouse, at last, no more fingers pointing but excellence for our patients.

- “Precision”, noting better, than a good digital impression, forget, moody material, distortion, bubbles, plaster models, dies, breaking margings, articulations, investment, casting, trimming metal etc.... I won’t fail to remember, the rules of asepsis and antisepsis, constant problems on any traditional impression, digital is safe and easy to store.

- “Symbiose” of traditional and new knowledge “, with a bit of help, everyone is able to master the Digital, all our “savoir faire”, accumulated along the years will be part of this new adventure.

-“ Aesthetic “, finish the time where stained full contoured restoration, were only for posteriors, I regularly post , videos and photos of our work, on my profile, the results talk for themselves.

Today we can personalised our designs and creations with new virtual tools, travel through,new mouvements and views, we never thought , were possibles.

After milling we change from numeric to solid, indeed, what we know best, so we can create specific caractérisations on Zirconias before sintering, and after, shape and design , optical illusions, just like a sculpter would do.

The staining part, is just the icing on the cake, not because you are staining with pretty colours.. would think many professionals, who, persist to believe, that full contoured restorations, are just done,with a bit of paint on it.

Creation of life, with différents stains, encompass all informations you dealt with, hours before, on the screen.

Lecture for, age, gender, occlusion, abrasions facets, definition of the individual tooth morphology, natural or prosthèse on the opposing tooth, it all become like, a digital forensic study, of our patient reality and habits.

Shade taken or photos will complete your panoply, with.. intensity, chroma, luminosity and caractérisations, at last, but, not least, the unveiling of your material aspect, multilayered Zirconia, ingots or Emax, will define, different intensity and lights.

As you can see there is more to it,than just staining a full contoured restauration, big or small.

The essence of creating such a great job, is to have a continuity, an ensemble of data and specific details, not stages or steps.

Informations and creation are connected... fused together.

Passionate about my work, I started Digital Dentistry in 1998, with the first Cerec system, you may not know, bu we had to trim a small quarter arch in plaster, then wait for 15 minutes before you could receive the files on your screen.

Those time have changed, just like, the look of a Dental technician bench in the 1950’s and today.

No point in refusing new Dental technologies, it would be like, not having the internet, an iPhone or a GPS.
