Indentured Slavery the new style of employment?
I sincerely hope that #CreditSuisse gets back on track with the help of the just-announced bonus rules. But I am not sure how much those wishing to leave for another opportunity will be motivated if they have to count the days until their bonus is really in the bag. Looking back at my career I would certainly be holding a constant grudge in the back of my mind and therefore not really 100 percent motivated to just do a good job . Even less so as every bonus I might earn during the next three years will again be locked away into an ever more receding future date. And why is it such a strong motivation NOT to get paid promptly for a year's work? Good people should be paid for what they contribute and/or what a competitor might think they can bring to the table. Basically such delayed rewards are a sign of weakness by any employer who fears that the (more successful?) competition might lure away his employees. This also means admission that the firm is not likely to be so successful which in the end is a sad indictment of the firm's management.
