Have you read the book, "Richest Man in Babylon?"
Just to recap a little...
There was a man in Babylon who was deeply indebted...
When he could not repay his debt, he was put in prison...
And later sold into slavery.
It started out as a very sad story...
And reminded me of many similar circumstances today.
Back to my story...
Fortunately for this man, his owner was a kind man.
What this slave was instructed to do every day was...
Bake cakes and then take them into town...
And sell the cakes at the marketplace.
The slave noticed that his cakes usually were all sold by noon...
And......
That the cakes were so popular, people came to the market specifically to buy his cakes.
He noticed that he probably could bake more cakes than he usually did...
And sell them all before supper time!
Bingo!
He had a huge brainwave!!!
So he sat down with his owner and presented his plan.
He asked if he could bake a few extra cakes each day...
And sell them in the marketplace...
Because he noticed that people were asking for more cakes every day.
So here was his proposal...
If he could buy flour and ingredients from his boss/owner...
To bake a few extra cakes every day...
Then he would sell them and keep the money separate for himself.
He would repay his owner for the ingredients out of his sales.
Get my drift?

This went on for many years...
Until one day he asked his owner...
How much it would cost to buy his freedom?
The owner was saddened by this...
Because he did not want to lose his favorite slave.
None-the-less...
The owner gave his slave a price.
Much to the owner's surprise...
The slave had saved enough money to buy back his freedom.
The moral to this story is that he was judicious with his money...
And made sure he kept a little extra aside each day.
Because of the lessons he learned, he became very wealthy...
To the point where he became the "Richest Man in Babylon!"
