Incremental Arcade
Is it like an Arcade Idle?
Before answering that, let me comment a bit about an important partnership that occurred in 2021 between Izyplay and a renowned French Publisher.
That year, we were wrapping up our experience with Hyper Casual and looking for Publishers/Partners who were open to a new style of game, one that maintained simplicity but was also deeper and more meaningful to the player - a mix of Hyper with Casual.
In February 2021, we met and partnered with Homa, one of the world’s leading mobile gaming publishers, based in France. At that time, they were aligned with our focus of offering something closer to Casual for our players. One of their main games was Farm Land, an interesting and innovative blend of Idle and Arcade (currently over 70M downloads). We considered the potential of this genre exciting and, from then on, we began exploring this genre together. One of the first results of this exploration was the game Adventure Miner, soft-launched in June of that same year. The result at that time wasn't enough for us to launch it globally, but it gave us a clear sense of the potential of the genre was capable of. In the following months, we would undertake several other projects exploring this potential more and more, with the support and guidance from Homa’s team. In parallel, the market also followed the evolution and coined the term Hybrid-Casual, using the game ArcHero as a good example of this.
At the end of 1.5 years of partnership, we have only praise and thanks for Homa and its team's attention, respect, and professionalism, especially CEO Olivier Le Bas, and PMs Augustin Richard and Jules Baculard. The partnership ended, but the studies and new prototypes in this genre have continued steadfastly, even independently. We have launched some games that we had chosen to discard in the past. Among them, are Adventure Miner and Market Boss. And with that, we created our vision of what would be ideal for this blend between Idle and Arcade, which we call Incremental Arcade. A little different from the one used by our partner, but it still with great potential to be explored.
So, answering the question. Why not embrace the term Arcade Idle?
For us, the term Incremental Arcade sounds more appropriate because the focus is more on the core arcade mechanics, which are based on skill, mini-games, and playing simplicity. All of this is wrapped in an idle metagame, rich in progression, expansion, and management.

Features and functionalities
Incremental games are known for their strategy and resource/point accumulation. Initially popular on mobile devices and web browsers, these games work with strategic decisions from the player to increase progression through skill improvements. However, in 95% of cases, this type of game offers an automated dynamic, in which the player only makes decisions through menu options, in a rather static format, greatly restricting the audience.
And it is exactly at this point that we insert the arcade, making the core mechanic more interactive and friendly to the public. Naturally, arcade genre games feature simple controls based on the?
player's intuition, and short game sessions with increasing difficulty, which is a great addition to the engaging meta-game of Incremental. We are very motivated to explore more and more the potential of Incremental Arcade. The genre is very promising and flexible, as its core loop can be based on any short, easy-to-learn, and fun mechanic.
Our first complete game in this genre was Iza's Supermarket, but we have several tested prototypes that showed great potential. Stay tuned here for new Incremental Arcade games coming soon ;)
