An Incredible Day At West Point

If you've never attended an Army football game or any event at West Point for that matter , you should try to do so. It's a magical place and a privilege just to be on post. 

Our day started at Bear Mountain Inn with a few business calls and emails and then breakfast at the inn's restaurant. 

We then stopped at Highland Falls Market to pick up a handful of huge specialty subs. The best around. 

Since it was only 11am, we zipped through Thayer gate and made our way to the new Malek Soccer Stadium to meet our cadets and watch the game. 

Asking our cadets about their day they indicated formation was at 5:45am and first class began at 6:30am.  A little earlier than normal because of the Friday football game. 

The men's soccer team played very well, beating Fairfield 3-0. It's their first 3 win start in a while and a great sign for a solid season. 

After the game we attended the tailgate organized by our NJ parents club just outside of Daly Field across from Trophy Point. As always there was a fantastic spread of food and drinks and we got a chance to catch up and share stories about our cadets. 

Looking up at the sky, we were able to see the parachute team leave their Lakota helicopter and descend to The Plain after the parade. Always spectacular to watch. 

Did I mention the weather couldn't be more perfect?

At around 5pm, we hopped on a shuttle bus to Michie Stadium and took our seats just to the left of the cadets. We got to see the cadets march onto the field and the parachute team deliver the game ball and American Flag. 

Within the first few minutes of the game, Army's triple option showed its power and scored multiple times. Over 500 yards of rushing offense without a single completed pass. 

We got a chance to spend some time with our group of cadets during the game and of course the singing of the Alma Mater is better when Army wins.

Needless to say, it was a rough day for the Plebes and the Supe who did hundreds of push ups!
