Increasing Your Happiness and Wisdom
Stop.? Sit quietly.? Turn off the TV, phone, computer.? Block out the sounds from the outside world.? Wisdom does not come from the noise.? Wisdom comes from silence.
Wisdom can be viewed as applying experience, knowledge and good judgement to solve many of life’s issues or challenges.? It can also be recognized as common sense, which is also a most uncommon quality. ?It can also have a spiritual dimension and be viewed as discerning God’s will or intent to be applied in a particular situation.
Your “wisdom switch” can thus be understood as the switch that will be activated in times of distress, noise and commotion where you can still your mind, shut out the distractions around you and decide with the greatest clarity possible.? You can make the very wisest choice that you’re capable of at that exact moment.
For example, when I wake up each morning, I start with a prayer that my day will have meaning, and that I will be infused with wisdom, courage and strength.? This simple prayer focuses me and enables me to tune out the noise on things that don’t matter.
It is very important to surround yourself with friends who have integrity and support you and inspire you.? One of my favorite quotes is, “Some people come into our lives and quietly go, while others stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same.”
All of us face challenges in our lives at some time, and I frequently read this saying:
I asked for strength and God gave difficulties to make me strong.?
I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity and God gave me brawn and brain to work.
I asked for courage and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favors and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted.
I received everything I needed.
My prayers were answered.?
When I think of those who have passed on and I start to miss them, I recall something I was told by a friend. ?First, say the person’s name aloud and then recite, “When you were alive you were always with us, and now that you have passed you are always within us.”
The wisdom switch is FREE for all human beings.? It only cares about the content of your character and is always there to help you.
It is helpful to me to frequently read the Serenity Prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
As Thanksgiving is approaching followed by the ending of 2024 and the beginning of a new year, it is the perfect time to activate your “wisdom switch.”
And as always, please remember Debby’s 3 G’s – Get Informed, Get Organized, Get Moving!??
