Increasing the Speed of Doing Business: Learning from Formula 1 Racing...

Many of you in my network may recall a piece I wrote back in June entitled F1, the ultimate metaphor, after being mesmerized at the Formula 1 Race in MTL, where I passionately wrote my love song to the Industry, and chronicled the story of the Lotus F1 team and their bold application of information technology to gain competitive advantage.

The Lotus team has since been acquired by Renault, but their investments in advanced technology and business solutions, such as Internet of Things, Advanced Machine Learning and Collaboration technology continues at an aggressive pace.

We had asked Thomas Mayer, COO of the Lotus F1 team who leads the innovation initiatives there, and Christian Pederson, Microsoft GM of Product Strategy for AX to come to Canada to visit our customers, and they generously agreed (not sure if they know how Canada is like in February, a stark contrast from the June afternoon when we spoke about it at the Paddock Club in Montreal). I wanted to invite Thomas and Christian here to tell our Canadian customers and partners the amazing story they told me, about how this humble F1 race company can compete with the biggest titans in the industry through smart investments in technology. There is nothing like hearing the story  from their first hand experience. Both of them are just so passionate about what they do, I could never do it justice.
