Incorporating the 7 Army Values into a Caregiving Agency to Attract and Retain Administrative Staff and Caregivers

In the caregiving world, it is essential for agencies to create a positive work environment that attracts and retains top-notch administrative staff and caregivers.

One effective way to achieve this is by incorporating the 7 Army Values into the business ethos. These values – loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage – serve as a guiding light for fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and dedication within the organization. After all, all the Army is really, is a well oiled corporation. No sense in recreating the wheel

First and foremost, loyalty is a key value that can greatly benefit a caregiving agency. By fostering a sense of loyalty among employees, the agency can build a strong and dedicated team that is committed to the mission and goals of the organization. This can be achieved through recognizing and rewarding loyalty, promoting open communication and trust, and providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

Duty is another important value that can help shape the culture of a caregiving agency. Administrative staff and caregivers who understand and embrace their duties are more likely to perform their responsibilities with dedication and diligence. By clearly outlining expectations and responsibilities, providing adequate training and support, and promoting a sense of accountability, the agency can ensure that employees are committed to fulfilling their duties to the best of their abilities.

Respect plays a crucial role in creating a positive work environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated. A caregiving agency that promotes a culture of respect fosters mutual understanding, trust, and cooperation among employees. By encouraging open communication, diversity, and inclusivity, the agency can create a welcoming and supportive environment that attracts and retains top talent.

Selfless service is a value that is at the core of the caregiving profession. By emphasizing the importance of putting the needs of others above self-interest, the agency can attract caregivers who are compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those they serve. Recognizing and appreciating the selfless service of employees, providing opportunities for community involvement, and offering support and resources for personal well-being can help reinforce this value within the organization.

Honor and integrity are values that are essential for building trust and credibility within a caregiving agency. Employees who uphold high ethical standards, honesty, and accountability contribute to a positive reputation for the organization. By promoting a culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical behavior, the agency can attract individuals who share these values and are committed to upholding the agency's reputation for excellence and reliability.

Lastly, personal courage is a value that empowers employees to take risks, confront challenges, and overcome obstacles in their work. By encouraging a culture of innovation, creativity, and resilience, the agency can attract and retain employees who are willing to step outside their comfort zones, embrace change, and strive for continuous improvement.

By incorporating the 7 Army Values into your caregiving business ethos, you can create an inspiring work environment that attracts and retains top administrative staff and caregivers. Those that are all in on the larger mission. After all as I’ve been saying for years…what we do is NOT stick warm bodies on homes. What we do is huge. It’s impactful. What we actually do is the following:

  • Extend lives
  • Save marriages
  • Preserve relationships amongst siblings
  • Open peoples’ worlds back up
  • Alleviate the heavy burden on the health care system
  • Allow for peaceful passings because familial relationships have been restored through our services taking family members out do the role of stressed out family caregiver

I could go on and on about what we actually do but I’ll leave or at that…

Point is, what we do is not a job. It’s a mission. Enlist people into your mission, train them to your mission, and encourage them daily to the accomplishment of your mission.

I told Stephen Tweed and Jensen Jones around three years ago that what I’m working on wasn’t just a business, it was a mission. A mission to “Redefine The Way Senior Care Professionals SERVE Referral Partners and Families” and I told them that I was going to create the special operations version of home care business development sales training and coaching. Grateful for each of you, gentlemen for the support in the mission.
