The Inconvenience of Opportunity
Good Day LinkedIN,
It’s a HUMP DAY WEDNESDAY!!
And today I come to you with a simple message about OPPORTUNITY. And that is:
Sometimes OPPORTUNITY is an INCONVENIENCE!!
“What do you mean by that Rowshan?”
“Well it’s funny you should ask! Let me explain….”
I mean what I said!
However, because I know that some of you need a bit more conch in your fritter, I’ll dive a bit deeper. What I mean is, sometimes OPPORTUNITIES come in the form of things we prefer not to do. To build my example, it’s time for a segment I’d like to call Storytime!
There was once an Entrepreneur whose business was in a slump. Her business was in the middle of a slow period and she was working as hard as possible to take it back to its former glory. One day she was invited to a conference. It was a conference that had a Registration Fee of $100.00. Added to that, for the entire time of the conference she would have to be away from her business. As I mentioned before, things were not going so well in her business, so she really didn’t have $100.00 to attend a seminar of persons who wouldn’t become potential customers. And worse, she considered it a major INCONVENIENCE to take 4 days away from her business. However, with some encouragement, she made the investment and attended the seminar. As expected, there were no potential customers at the Seminar as everyone who attended was in the same business she was. However, the seminar had entrepreneurs from throughout the Caribbean and the United States, a few of whom she connected with and formed a relationship. One of those connections was connected to a “BILLIONAIRE” who owned a Cay. That connection, connected her with the BILLIONAIRE who was looking for someone to visit their Cay for two weeks and perform services for her and her entire family who were on vacation. However, due to the fact that her business was so slow, she had no employees to make the trip for her. This would mean another two weeks away from her business. Nevertheless, she made the trip herself and spent the two weeks (All Expenses Paid) with the BILLIONAIRE and her family. Her, $100.00 INCONVENIENCE ended up bringing her a connection that RESULTED in an OPPORTUNITY that earned her $12,000.00 and revitalized her business! HOW? Well 1.) She got $12,000.00 for the two weeks on the Cay. And 2.) If that wasn’t enough, while on the Cay, she met a Millionaire who was a hotel designer and got her connections to other contract OPPORTUNITIES. In total, a conference that she considered an INCONVENIENCE, because it costed her $100.00 and 4 days away from her business earned turned out to be an OPPORTUNITY that earned her $12,000.00 and counting.
So in case you missed the POINT of that whole Story:
Sometimes OPPORTUNITY is an INCONVENIENCE!!
Until Next Time…. Let's STAY ENGAGED
