Incident Command Dashboard

Incident Command Dashboard

In the quick video below I demonstrate a Command Dashboard that is developed utilizing collaborative work management technology. The basis of our design is to collect and outline specific essential elements of information and develop a process for the information to be reported, collected, and disseminated in order to make key decisions.

Displaying information on a dashboard similar to the one below allows your team to maintain a common operational picture and situational awareness throughout an incident or event. Depending on how your emergency operations center is structured our dashboards are customizable to your needs.

In this video I run through a dashboard that displays key information during a specific time-frame to include basic incident information, weather, evacuation center status, total disaster cost estimates, resource request status, critical events, and more. The information is unlimited and built specifically towards the information your team collects.

Comment below on which features you would like to see incorporated into a dashboard or tag someone who would benefit from this dashboard.

One of the limiting factors in dashboards and their use is how well they are integrated into the workflow of generators of the data. There are a variety of tools being used by local responders right now that are spreadsheet based, google doc based, and the ol' "Word" templates that make this problematic. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Or do you simply give them a "guide dog" to walk by their side as they respond (to mix metaphors). Implementation of dashboards brings with it many practical (and emotional) barriers.
