Leslie Martinich is a computer scientist turned professional speaker. Come check out this episode to find out how she runs her speaking business. I have a few more such episodes on deck: people changing careers to become speakers. Check out this episode and subsequent ones to find out how they did it (and continue to do it).
Some of you may know that I'm an Inc. Magazine contributor. You may not know how I became a contributor. I did a video about it. Check it out HERE .
PUBLIC SPEAKING TIP
If you're giving a presentation at a conference and want to connect with audience members afterwards, consider copying and pasting your LinkedIn QR code onto a slide of your presentation. People will likely have questions about the presentation, so put the QR code on the last slide and leave that slide up during Q&A. That way, people won't feel rushed to pull our their phones.
When they scan the QR code, they can send you a connection request. If they don't send a personalized invite, telling you that they saw you present, you can always send a message before accepting the invite asking them how they found you.
Have other resources you can send attendees? You can offer to send them once you accept the connection request.
Simple!
Until next time.
