Inauguration of new JNV Pakur-II, Jharkhand

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya launched in 1985, was conceptualized with an aim to provide excellence coupled with social justice. In today's date, 645 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas' are active across the country, in which 2,74,991 children are getting an education. The government of India has invested more than 33,000 crores in these Vidyalayas.

It gives me immense pride to say that centrally funded government schools are moving towards improvement on a regular basis. It's commendable that 28772 students out of 29152 from 548 schools from across the country cleared their CBSE examination in 2020. The students upgraded their own record–from 74.91% in 2019 to 79.95% in 2020. Efforts are also incorporated to bridge gender gap- 40% girls get admission in JNVs, while 33% seats in these schools are reserved for girls. The success rate of students of JNV was 39% in JEE Main-2019 and 79% in NEET-2019

During corona, the premises of 230 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 570 Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya's were handed over to Defence authorities, Paramilitary forces and State Governments for quarantine purposes, housing the migrant labourers and camping the temporary deployment of paramilitary forces. The Principals and teachers of these schools were always available in the school premises supporting the efforts of the local authorities in containing the spread of Covid-19. As on date, 105 medical camps were functional in JNVs.

The teachers of Kendriya Vidyalayas & JNV have truly been working as corona warriors, and I'd like to extend my heartiest respect to them.

In the backdrop of covid-19 situation, over 3000 students who were staying in 173 JNV across the country were safely sent back home during the lockdown. The continuous efforts of the teachers and authorities in looking after the well-being of the students at all times is inspirational.

Laying the foundation stone for the construction of new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Pakur-II. (Jharkhand) makes me happy, because I know the introduction of this new building will allow more students from rural areas to avail education–enhancing their future. As we are all aware of the education gap between rural and urban sectors, the launch of such JNV help bridge the gap for students across the nation–regardless of geographical or demographical setting.

Our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji has undertaken a great initiative, RISE-Revitalization of Infrastructure and Systems in Education program which emphasizes a culture of sustainability–from temporary to permanent. Owing to this scheme, the barrier to the construction of permanent building of this JNV has been eliminated and now a plot of land is available for its construction.

Another important note is that this school has been set up in SC and ST students' dominated areas based on the educational requirement. Ministry of Minority Affairs in collaboration has funded this great endeavour. This reminds me of the incident when someone asked Shri Narendra Modi ji, "what are you doing for 'A' community and 'B'? –to which he replied, "I work for Bharat–worship and service of India is my duty. It's aspirational to see Ministries come together for the common greater cause–development of our great nation.

I am very happy that with multi-linguistic, multi-disciplinary and multi-dynamic education; our students, teachers, parents and the entire society is ready to take a quantum leap to New India.
