Just a week after having the honor of welcoming the Royal couple from the Netherlands in our home state of Georgia, we embarked on a reciprocal working visit to their homeland. This visit not only allowed us to experience the warm hospitality of our friends at Games for Health Journal and PostICU, but also provided the opportunity for a productive business and culturally rich exchange. Now back in Atlanta, with jet lag nearly behind us, I'm excited to share insights from the inaugural HLTH Europe conference held in Amsterdam June 17th to June 20th.
After six years of growth, meticulous planning, and successful presence in the US HLTH Europe Health Tech conference has successfully launched in the Kingdom of Netherlands – the city of Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Vermeer, the city of canals where old meets new and everything is run efficiently. By the way, we are all extremely jealous of the public transit and the web of cycling lanes across the city. From Dutch Classics to Modern Art at Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam – where the Opening Reception sponsored by Phillips Healthcare was held, the conference location was perfectly connected with the rest of the city. The organizers brought together the brightest minds in healthcare and tech under one roof. From startups to major life science companies, from tech giants like Microsoft for Startups represented by global leader Sally Ann Frank and Google Health Represented by Karen DeSalvo to health tech device manufacturers like Phillips Healthcare, from successful tech startups from the Middle East like meta[bolic] led by Ali Mahmood, PMP, ACP and amplifAI health led by Dr. Meshari F. Alwashmi to University Medical Centers of Global Excellence like Cedars-Sinai and Mayo Clinic were all present. The atmosphere was “electrifying” from the vibrant digital banners at the venue entrance to the information boards carefully towering above the naturally lit venue at RAI in Amsterdam Zuid (South), every detail was crafted to welcome and guide attendees through an immersive experience, like no other conference I’ve attended.
The event was a feast for the senses and intellect alike, offering everything from nourishing food prepared on the spot, barista stations with high quality coffee and tea and healthy snacks staffed through the day, to thought-provoking discussions that challenged and expanded our understanding in many areas. The generosity of knowledge shared by panelist was only matched by the swag bags, brimming with goodies that reflected the spirit of abundance and community spirit. I thoroughly enjoyed the multitude of session offerings, as well as the break- off spaces sponsored by GE Healthcare, where folks could enjoy an artistic arts and craft break and a quiet moment away from the buzzing atmosphere.
?"Re-designing Healthcare with Women in Mind" initiative by Kearney, Paula Belostas Muguerza - Senior Partner and Global Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice Leader at Kearney, presented a distinctive opportunity to collaboratively generate fresh perspectives aimed at addressing urgent issues concerning women's health. As technology leaders working with clients to solve real world Public-health problems that impact us all – this?is not only a cause dear to me, but also a unique opportunity to share the stage with my husband Carl Hanna, PhD who’s focused on making care and caregiving accessible to all with the AI powered solutions at Evva Health . Additionally, we had the opportunity to connect with European leaders in this space, Dr Antonella Santuccione Chadha and U.S. based technology transfer leaders such as Jenica Patterson and Susan Coller Monarez from the U.S. Gov Agency Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) - with the occasion of reception of the U.S. Embassy to the Hague. During this reception we also connected with Dutch companies active in U.S and U.S. companies active in Netherlands.
As we look back to the days filled with rich conversations and new connections from all over the world, we're reminded of the power of gathering in person to share a meal, learn from each other and partner in solutions centered to make an impact at home and globally. I was deeply impressed of the welcoming atmosphere at The Middle Eastern summit. Panel topic "A hub for Healthcare Innovation and Investment” moderated by Howard Gough and Professor Shafi Ahmed with interesting discussions and panelists from Europe and the Middle East.
Congrats to the co-organizers meta(Bolic) and amplify (AI) and hopefully will see some of you at the next conference in Middle East or Europe or U.S. in the next year. Mazin Gadir PhD MSc BEng PMP Prosci LSSGB EBAS AgileView Mazin Gadir PhD MSc BEng PMP Prosci LSSGB EBAS Agile’s profile, some of your colleagues at Dubai Health Authority such as Dr Osama Elhassan were present, very welcoming and inviting to explore partnerships in the GCC area. Thanks to all for sharing your insights on regulatory and startups on doing business in the Middle East.
We were reminded that even at a conference, there is time to have a break, share a moment, a coffee, tea or a glass of bubbles, enjoy the sunsets and the city bike rides or canal bike rides. Made the best of the long (16 hours) summer days (including the Sumer Solstice and returned home mentally energized and inspired - despite of physical exhaustion and several days required to recover from jetlag. ??? ?

To quote one of the Middle East Summit Moderators and esteemed speaker Professor Shafi Ahmed :
“Quality and Quantity were not mutually exclusive. Inclusivity and civility were front and center. If the best conference is all about the individual and collective experiences, then?HLTH Europe?just about ticked every box.” ?
Well done to the whole team HLTH Europe, RAI Amsterdam and all involved in making this experience a memorable one - even for experienced conference attendees.
