Inaction is Killing Your Success
To start something you just need to do it — not plan, think or speculate on the outcome, but to simply move in the direction one step at a time…
It’s one of those days when I know I need to write something…but I don’t know what.
A feeling writers and creatives go through often — those moments when you know an idea is waiting to emerge, but ‘it’s not there yet!’
It’s different from writer’s block, because it’s not a lack of ideas, but an incoherence inside your mind that gnaws at you…
You’re waiting to see a shape and form, but it’s all so hazy, like a cloudy day with no sunlight.
I choose still to sit in front of the white page — my other meditation mat — allowing the thoughts to flow freely, keying them in, and hoping to see a picture appear.
Very often, in life, like on the white page, you have no clue what step to take next, let alone the outcome of your actions.
Similar to the state we are in with the lockdown...
We’re all working on our individual lives, remotely or with others, depending on what our occupations and professions are.
We don’t know what the future world will look like, we don’t even know what we’re building…and if we’ll survive to see what we build!
But we continue to stay at it — because action in and of itself has meaning.
The lack of action is what leads to disillusionment and despair, a greater incoherence than the one you started out with.
The beauty of life is in the doing, and in the creating…
Your actions, however inane and inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, still give you a sense of purpose…a reason to live and wake up each day!
What keeps life going then is routine, and the consequent actions that emerge from following the routine.
A routine is your ability to simply show up each day — at your workplace, at your temple, on your meditation or yoga mat, in your kitchen, or in front of your laptop, knowing that you have to do something.
And, however small, repetitive, or different your actions may be, they will still take you a tiny step forward — because you have done something, rather than nothing at all!
The lockdown is an easy time to slip into lethargy… To get complacent about life and dreams, and defer them to a time when the world gets unlocked.
But, be weary of inaction, and don’t let it to rule your mind or day...
Keep rerouting and coming back to your daily discipline — however difficult it may be — because small actions done each day, will give you big success one day.
So, while the world lives in chaos, grappling with the mayhem caused by Coronavirus, let your daily routine help you centre and restore your spirit…
You’ll be surprised to see how one small anchoring and disciplined act done each day, can slowly take you to your final destination!
Pink Pinjra is about giving expression to your dreams and your innermost self, through your chosen mode of expression…
It’s about freeing yourself from anything that limits you — mentally, emotionally or physically — and finding greater joy and liberation through expression.
Routine, like is often said, sets you free… So, use that structure to enhance your life, give it greater meaning, and see where it takes you!
If you liked the blog, do share with friends and family… Let’s together optimise our lockdown days with greater discipline, more committed action, and renewed purpose!
