During my stint of eight months of unemployment, I pondered on what engages our brain to remain succinct and provide the maximum drive.
Dale Carnegie provided me the answer, thanks to the recommendation from Stefanos, I got acquainted with his work. One of his various profound quotes being :
"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy."
It is not money, status or power which our brain yearns the most, it is knowledge and precisely actionable knowledge. And this is the driving force for all the fellow jobseekers out there. Without getting completely philosophical, let me provide resources which have continuously engaged me.
- If you are curious towards high performance computing, and would love to learn an intuitive language (Julia). Julia Exercism would help you to implement while you learn from the documentation of Julia. Julia_CV is another great resource. I am thankful to my friend Uriel for seeding the thought in me several years ago when Julia was in developmental stages.
- This is something I discovered recently, on how to make a more aesthetic post on LinkedIn. For the academicians and curious people in general, LinkedIn posts where Aggie has written very thoughtful posts which are immensely helpful if implemented.
- Another great resource from Aggie is her course on Scientific writing. Check it out here.
- During this pandemic, academic writing has exponentially increased, with many great papers released in grand succession. If you would like to gain maximum value from a paper and become an active reader.
- I am still in the earlier stages of being a good communicator of my ideas. To learn from the experts in this field is very humbling. Soundarya had written an extensive article on landing your first interview which provides an actionable framework and several networking tips. Another great place to find individuals which bridge the gap between academia and industry is Smart Tribe.
- Sincere thanks to a dear friend, Rishi for suggesting this post which leads to a free book on networking. I just started reading it, and I am sure it will add more to my understanding on this topic.
These are some of resources which garnered lesser attention while they were warranted to have more. I will keep updating this list as I stumble upon more of them. I would request my network to share more such resources which would benefit the learning community and action-seekers in general.
I hope that 2021 brings in the grit and determination within us so that we can contribute more to this developing world and lead a fulfilling life. Thank you for reading.
