#In3WeCLIMB: Behind every great team is a clear and simple mission

I first met Isaiah Chng, Founder of ProAge, at a convention in 2019. He stopped by our table, after I did my 30-second elevator pitch on CLIMB. He smiled and said, “Yes, I will sign up.” That was the moment when he took a chance on us. Since then, we have become friends and strategic partners, and I am grateful beyond words. He brought his core team to our leadership workshop and allowed us to work with them to enhance team collaboration and synergy. I admire Isaiah because of his Mission; he leads by having a clear sense of purpose, and everyone in his team is aligned with the vision and direction of ProAge that he has set. Brainstorming with him has always been a joy and pleasure because of his ideas and innovations.
I caught up with him recently and asked what chances and choices he had made and taken last year to drive change:
DS: In the past year, what situation brought out the best in you? What strengths did you use to impact the situation? What was the outcome? How are things positively impacted?
IC: COVID-19 led to the complete stop of our entire business. We needed to pivot and innovate right away. I used my talents to lead my team and strategized a path out of the “mess.” So thankful for how my team responded. We brought all our solutions online and accelerated our digital push within 1 month. This enabled us to stream our first mass event across 10 countries during the circuit breaker period and snag our first regional project.
DS: Through self-discovery and reflection, how do you create value for your team?
IC: My decisions made then were crucial. My key value was to quickly chart a forward-moving strategy, attach it to our mission which anchored us, and framed how we worked in a “new norm.”
DS: What trends and changes do you see in the world that excite you and give you a sense of confidence in the possibilities for the future?
IC: Growing digitization, change in how people work, how companies focused on well-being, opening new markets and business areas ripe for disruption due to the change. All these are positive trends that give me much optimism and hope for the future.
