Impulsive but I work my t*ts off

While running through the trails today, I was pondering that there are different approaches to training (and life).
Some people are like me. As my friend Becci puts it I’m “impulsive but I work my t*ts off”.
And some people value regularity.
On a Tuesday, they will always do the same loop with the same people at the same time.
You could set a clock to their routine.
And you know what…both approaches work.
As long as we are both ticking off the fundamentals of running training (distance, tempo runs, speed work and fun of course!) then we can kick our goals
It is the same with communicating with your Virtual Assistant.
We have clients who talk to their VA at 10am every morning and others who call from the car between meetings at random times.
Some use WhatsApp, others use slack.
Some businesses have sophisticated project management tools and others are winging it.
Some business owners like their VA to stash the questions and ask them all in one go. And others want to be peppered with questions in real time.

What matters when it boils down to it is “Is it working for the business owner and their VA?”.
If the answer is yes, then awesome. If not, it’s time to tweak some things.
But just like running there are some fundamental elements that business owners need to have with their virtual assistant communication system to get great outcomes.
-Face to face conversations (at least once a week)
-An efficient texting system (Slack and Whatsapp are common tools)
-End of day reports (a simple report that the VA sends at the end of the day saying what they did that day, what they are going to do tomorrow and any outstanding questions they have for you).
When a client starts with a Virtual Assistant we check in with the client and Virtual Assistant weekly for at least a month to fine tune the communication system.
Even if things are going well there are sometimes some tweaks to recommend.
In fact, I met with a client and her Virtual Assistant of two years the other day and we clarified some details around their communication system taking things to the next level.
Having worked with so many business owners and Virtual Assistants it is fun to work with them to determine the best approach for them.
As they say…there are many ways to skin a cat.
