Improving Your Mood
While Mental Health Awareness Day has officially passed, it is important to focus on your mental health just as you do your physical health. Working from home and being on videoconference meetings all day can be draining. I shared these tips for fighting burnout and improving your mood with the projekt202 team on Friday. Hope they help you as well. Please let me know your tips too.
· Identify what brings you joy every day. I like to watch the sunsets with a glass of wine from my back porch every day.
· Spend time outside. Whether it’s taking a walk, eating a meal or just relaxing, spending time outside always helps my mood.
· Put on your favorite music. I have various playlists depending on what I am feeling and needing at the time.
· Talk to someone you know will make you happy. I am grateful when we can reconnect and share a laugh or two.
· Continue to celebrate milestones in your life. While this may look different than it did before, it’s important to recognize these events and celebrate.
· If you have a 1:1 with someone, take it off zoom, use the phone and have your meeting while you both walk outside.
· Participate in activities to connect with your colleagues. At projekt202, we have virtual events and other activities to reconnect and find humor.
· Block your calendar for lunch and other breaks you may need during the day. While it may not always be respected, many times it will, and it will give you a chance to recharge.
· Try to have regular start and end times to your day. I find that having this structure helps me to maintain my work life balance.
· One of my favorite things to do is to play my favorite song, September by Earth, Wind and Fire and have an impromptu dance party.
Building Teams & Achieving Dreams
4 年Great tips Karen King. I find time blocking especially useful. It's very easy to be swayed back to the keyboard when it's only a room (or sometimes feet) away.
Great tips, Karen! Hope you are well!
