IMPROVING YOUR HOME ON BUDGET

IMPROVING YOUR HOME ON BUDGET
Creating the home of your dreams is an expensive task – everyone who’s ever tried it will know that. A lack of funds puts many of us off even attempting it, but although achieving your vision might prove costly, this doesn’t mean that you need to be stuck with a half-furnished property forever. For some, funding can be found through a lender. For others, saving may be the only option. Nobody’s saying that this won’t make your goal take a little longer to achieve; however, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t interim measures you can take to improve your home piece-by-piece in the meantime.
1.Planing: Involve professionals.
That is what we do at ORCA and we are very good at it .We will advice you on what to choose etc . Create an excel sheet for your costing all you need to buy must be kept on record for you to know your actual expenditure on this project.
When you try to do it on your own you may get it wrong. That is why we have event and wedding planers hire their services and save time and money.
The professionals (interior decorators) know where to get the good products at affordable prices.
2. Products: What do you need for furnishing your home ?
A couch ,beset ,dining set ,center table ,carpets ,décor pieces ,curtains etc
3.Choosing colours :In case you want to do it yourself ,do not do it alone involve your partner ,friends ,family in choosing your colours ,arranging your furniture and your colours one of the simplest ways to create a pulled together look is by investing in a few choice, colour-coordinated accessories. These don’t have to break the bank – they could simply be cheap cushions and throws that match your paintwork. The easiest way to do it is to choose two contrasting colours, such as black and white, or cream and a brighter colour. Buy two cushions in one colour, two in the other, and a throw to match and your home will instantly look like you’ve put some real effort into its design. Home stores like ORCA have plenty of draperies available for budget prices . Purchase a simple curtain rod, hang up your handiwork.

Bedroom
Start with sourcing a good quality mattress. Sleep is important and you don’t want to compromise a good night’s rest for the sake of saving a few dollars. You also want to spend on your duvet cover and bedding, “Your bed is focal point of the room, so spend on good bedding that looks great.” You should also spend more on dresser drawers because they get lots of wear and tear. In general, be prepared to spend a lot on your bedroom, . But you can save on extras like nightstands, reading lamps and decorative pillows. Rather than spending money on artwork, go with a beautiful headboard and stylish bedding instead.
KITCHEN &DINING
If you can afford it, consider upgrading to stainless steel appliances, which look great and are a good idea for resale value. You also want to spend on faucets and taps and splurge on a beautiful countertop. When it comes to kitchen cabinets, go simple and affordable. The impact can come from unique hardware and handles that catch the eye.
Splurge on a good, functional dining table. It will get lots of use and will last . Save on chairs since you may want to change them after a few years, plus you need more of them, which can get expensive..

4.Negotiations :We have the purchasing power but no bargaining power .Always look for bargain .Look for the right people and ask for rebate when you are buying.
Always ask for more .
Try as much as possible to buy all your items at one place look for a shop Like us (ORCA ) where you can get everything you need for your home.
5..Time line :Give yourself a time within which you can complete the projects .The more you delay the more the prices go up especially in Ghana where prices are not very stable .
6.Finance :How to you finance your home furnishing ?You need at least GHC 15000 to get the basic items to furnish a 2 bedroom house .
If you do not have the money look elsewhere .
We can help you .
