X-ray images are generally going to be the base offering of any medical practice that uses radiography technology. Whether you are specializing in a certain field or just a general practitioner looking to expand your offerings, X-rays are generally a solid place to start. However, to reap the most from your investment, you want to make sure that you’re getting the strongest image quality possible out of your machines. Here are some good ways you can do so.
As a start, you want to establish a good set of practices to make sure you’re doing the most with the x-ray images you currently have. You may not have the budget for an upgrade just yet, but you can do things like compare patient images with previous ones and working on collimating a certain region of the body. This helps with finding anomalies with the patient, as well as with your machines.
In addition, while you can talk to your IT techs if you see an overabundance of things like artifacting, a lot of errors are generally caused by a lack of maintenance than anything else. When you do your initial x-ray consultation, ask for a service schedule and be sure to adhere to it.
While good practices will help ensure your x-ray images are as clear and error-free as possible, there’s always going to be a finite amount that your effort can do. If you find that image quality is constantly being hampered by errors and other situations, you may want to give serious thought to upgrading your radiography equipment and going digital. When you’re ready to make that transition, be sure to start by consulting with a skilled industry partner like JPI Healthcare Solutions. We can help you address the cause of your imaging concerns and show you the best options to handle them.
