Improving Quality Nuggets: Intro

In this multipart series I will discuss some small nuggets relating to quality in delivery. While working and delivering projects around the world I’ve been blessed to be able to pick up some great wisdom from others. I’ll share a few favorites in this series.

Rule 1: “If it’s your time then it’s my quality. If it’s your quality, then I will tell you the schedule!”

Rule 2: Fixing a design issue during development has a 10x cost; fixing it post go-live is another 10x cost

Rule 3: Not knowing your deliverables are free of defects is sometimes only marginally better than having the defects.

Rule 4: Friendly competition in the team is a great motivator to achieve high delivery quality

Rule 5: The plans for the best execution are made from vision and experienced stakeholder participation

Rule 6: Know and define the quality you expect to get from subcontractors

Rule 7: Know the details of what you own. Focus on what’s important to put your quality in the right place
